With Age Comes Wisdom...

As we grow older, we tend to be wiser...hmmmnn...

Or so we thought. Not everyone though, or at least not everyone use their mind to make wise decisions. Specially when they know the wiser decision comes with a greater risk or responsibility. 

After my 30th birthday I stopped counting the years. I felt old but I know a lot of people tell me I don't look my age. It feels good to get such compliments but the reality is...I'm really old, which sucks. 

For the past few years I haven't really had a proper birthday celebration. Most of the time it was just a simple dinner with closest friends or a crazy unplanned party. Last year I happened to be in Manila with a bunch of girlfriends to attend a big wedding of a dear friend and we partied like crazy, the year before I remember I was too stressed and exhausted from work and decided to just stay at home, and before before that? All I can remember is noisy clubbing and alcohol. It was fun at that time, not anymore now...

One big reason for our holiday aside from escaping the buzzing city for a relaxing week is to celebrate my birthday. This time I want it to be different, extra special. My birthday at the beach? I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate it, aside from the fact that I'm away from my friends.

Started the day with a super brekky with this amazing view! I knew it was going to be an amazing day :)

An expanse of clear sky and calm sea...so serene, tranquil, so peaceful and I just enjoyed this view the whole morning.

My husband booked a spa for two and we're headin' out to a more private area of the hotel compound via this golf cart!

Natural essences

I've tried massage everywhere we travel and in Shanghai's known spas as well but no other massage can top our experience at the Surin Spa. It was not just relaxing but very de-stressing. I felt invigorated right after. We all know that Thailand is known for their excellent massage, it's part of their culture and it's so good to experience that part of Thailand. What a lovely birthday treat from my husband!

After our very satisfying spa experience we headed back to the beach for a light lunch, hence, a simple insalata caprese satisfied my hunger...and lots & lots of mango margarita, yey!  

Oh I forgot to mention, while we were chilling out at the beach, the hotel staff surprised me with a birthday cake! It's very sweet of them and I really appreciate the gesture. It wasn't just a cake, it's divine, with a very succulent blueberry moist chocolate flavor. Thank you so much The Surin Phuket staff! You just made my birthday extra special!

Oh, this was just our day celebration. Stay tuned for the Chinese New Year sparks and my birthday dinner :)
