Epicurean...It's Not.

Spring is finally here and I'm indulging myself in it's limited bit of sunshine!


This spring is a bit weird though, cherry blossoms near our place bloomed earlier this year and now it's already falling off. So no cherry blossoms this time but food, lots of food and some sunshine :)

Wore my faux fur with tattered jeans and a studded bootie with just a plain white t-shirt underneath. Something very casual & a bit grunge. Of course I added a touch of my signature on the details of the look with my Prada snakeskin handbag and a woven belt. I'm not that laid back cool, I don't belong to those "cool chick" category, lol! I always love to look more feminine no matter what I wear. So I wore a pointed metal heels instead of a rugged boots, and a handbag instead of a slingbag. I've seen quite similar looks on Lookbook but those gals wore the outfit with beanies, spiked caps, spiked accessories, Jeff Campell spiked Litas with a total grunge looks but that's just not me...

It was a bit cold & windy last weekend and my husband wanted to try Swiss fondue. For those who had been following my blog for quite a while now, you have probably seen how we love to explore and indulge in different cuisine. This is something we haven't tried yet. We've been planning this since last summer but never had the chance. Finally we sort of ran out of new and exciting cuisine to try and while it's still cold, it was ideal to have something hot & heavy, cheese fondue!

In Shanghai there's only one place to enjoy this dish, it's in the Chalet Suisse. They have quite good reviews, worth a try. So we did. 

The place was quite grand outside, a colonial-looking old building but very cozy like a typical suisse chalet inside. There was not so much option of the fondue list on the menu, but roesti selections provided quite an appetizing satisfaction.

We had the cheese fondue with potatoes & croutons, a hearty onion soup, and a classic potato roesti with mushrooms & truffles. 

Is that cheese????

Wow that meal was so heavy! I couldn't even order the chocolate fondue anymore and I need a good stroll right after! It's lovely to stroll around Shanghai on a weather like this. Everyone seem to be in the mood to stay out and meet up. 

The day didn't end up on brunch only. It continued for a hot chocolate drink at a famous small chocolatier in Shanghai called HOF (House of Flour). 

A bite of chocolate truffles, macaron, and a hot chocolate with Baileys, whoa! Just what I needed to keep me warm.

The clash of modern & old China, along the famous Shanghai landmark called Jing-an temple. 

...and yes, it went on until dinner at Pizza Marzano, ugh!

Prosciutto & arugula pizza & a selection of desserts for my sweet tooth: tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and sweet dough in nutella dip.

That was a brunch? It was totally a mouthful!
